Perfect Timing for Your Engagement Shoot

Updated: Mar 4

Engagement shoots have become hugely popular over the last few years, no doubt boosted by the royal wedding effect. Most recently, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s beautifully romantic photos gave us a perfect example of how an engagement shoot can help build a complete visual story of your relationship.

At Kim Rix Photography we suggest you book your engagement shoot as early as you can. It’s true that we get booked up quickly, but there are other reasons to get that shoot date in the diary as quickly as possible.

Engagement photos are a great way of making save-the-date cards or wedding invitations even more personal, but you’ll need to allow time for the editing and design process, then more time for the printing. And all that’s before you have address and post them to guests – quite possibly to several different countries!

To make this process easy for you, we can provide a full print service for photo cards and photo invites. Please ask us for details.

Planning the Perfect Proposal Photoshoot

While we do have some availability outside normal working hours, you’ll probably need to think about taking an afternoon off. Why not treat yourself to a special day out with your session as part of the fun? You’ll feel less rushed and more relaxed, which leads to better, more natural photos.

If your dream engagement shoot is on location, remember that the British weather won’t always oblige with gloriously sunny skies. It doesn’t happen often, but we do sometimes need to re-schedule. You don't want to be running out of time because of a rainy day.

A slideshow of your engagement photos can make a lovely backdrop to the wedding reception. If this appeals to you, then remember to choose them well in advance. Picking your favourite photos and creating a slideshow can turn out to be quite a time-consuming task.

If you’d rather delegate this job, we can do it for you. We can even add exciting visual effects and music. If you have permission to use them, we’d be happy to include other people's photographs in your slideshow, too.

We hope that after your engagement shoot, you’ll want to book us for your wedding. We absolutely love photographing a couple we already know! Just be aware that for wedding dates you really do need to book well in advance - all the obvious dates get booked out very early, often 2 or 3 years ahead.
