Last week I photographed a truly inspiring event held at The National Portrait Gallery. The event was organised by Maureen A Bryan, CEO and founder of VOW (Voice of a Woman) to launch of the Voice of Woman Awards in London.

During the champagne reception, guests were treated to a private viewing of two exhibitions: ‘Road to 2012: Aiming High’ and ‘The Queen: Art & Image’.
VOW was established in response to and in support of the global campaign to end violence against women and children – particularly girls.
Maureen’s aim is to generate a greater awareness of the experiences of women whose voices go unheard, by providing a space for the ‘voice of a woman.’
Here are a couple of my favourite images from the event, including a portrait of Zoe Wanamaker who was honoured for encouraging women to fulfil their potential, and Nicola Benedetti who captivated us with her Stradivarius, who has helped to demonstrate the power that music can have in transforming the lives of young people.

Being a huge advocate of empowering women and fulfiling one’s potential, I felt particularly privileged to play my part on the evening and to capture these images.
