Half term activities
Autumn and half term are the best words when put into the same sentence. You get to spend quality time with your family, participating in fun activities, enjoying seasonal food and drink and preparing for autumns biggest events, whilst capturing these special moments so you can cherish them forever!
With busy schedules and professional lives, it may not be easy to spend the entire half term with your family. However, the moments that you do spend should be valued and treasured. And it’s these moments that are so important to capture and document.
I have listed my top five half term activities that will create fabulous opportunities to capture your family having fun..
1. Conker collecting
We all remember collecting them as children, and playing conker wars. Half term is the perfect time to pass these valued traditions onto your children. My favourite ideas for autumn photos is either take your family over to the park or on a bike ride and start a competition of who can find the largest conker – you will capture stunning reactions and emotions. Or capture your children learning how to play conker wars, with pieces of string. These portraits will be fun and will have the entire family laughing.
The best thing about autumn is the food! Seasonal delicacies that make incredible, fine dining and luxurious meals. Baking with children can capture amazing portraits, and your half term activities can be as messy and as creative as you like. Whether you make autumn or Halloween themed treats, pumpkin spiced lattes or honey cookies, you and your family will have great fun, and imagine those beaming smiles that you will capture when you announce your children as official taste testers!
3. Pumpkin carving
You don’t need to wait for Halloween for this. There are so many ideas to capture your children carving their pumpkins, from competitions, to making pumpkin soup with the leftovers or choosing the pumpkins from the pumpkin patch.
4. Campfires and marshmallow toasting
I love camping. If you don’t have the time, this is something that you can even do in your back garden. Have an open fire, toast marshmallows, tell stories and sing songs. These are memories worth capturing, and your photos will be a momento of the quality time that you spent together.
5. Go on a nature trail
This activity is not only fun, but it’s also educational. There are so many beautiful parks, forests and woodlands in London that you and your family can truly explore. Capture your family jumping in puddles, collapsing in piles of leaves and climbing trees.
These activities will allow you and your family to spend quality time together. And it will allow your children to be creative. Implementing these activities into your Half term break, will also create cosy, warm and beautiful portraiture that never goes out of season.
